IUAV University Venue

Terese

Meeting with local institutions representatives will be held at Terese

History and current usage
Formerly known as Santa Teresa Convent, the complex has a typical 17th-century architectural layout, characterized by a central, wide cloister enclosed by porticoes and loggias. The convent housed the cloistered nuns of the Carmelitane Scalze (so-called Terese), and it included the nearby church of Santa Teresa. In the 19th century, the convent was shut down due to Napoleonic edicts, converted into an orphanage and later a homeless shelter, before taking on its current use. The complex, restored and repurposed between the 90s and early 00s, is now home to one of Iuav University's headquarters. While preserving its original features, layout, and compositional unity, it now hosts classrooms and studios for students and is an energetically sensitive project. The former convent has recently been restored, this time with an environmentally sustainable, sensitive project inaugurated last April, making the entire complex fully available. A wider rehabilitation project includes the restoration of Chiesa delle Terese and the creation, within the complex, of a space open to the city for cultural events, to preserve and valorize the existing heritage.
