Francesco Palumbo

Director of Fondazione Sistema Toscana.

Since 2021, Francesco Palumbo has been the Director of Fondazione Sistema Toscana. He is an expert in public policy planning and implementation, as well as in preserving tangible and intangible heritage. He has been Director of ‘Direzione Generale Turismo’ at ‘Ministero dei Beni Culturali e del Turismo’ (MiBACT) (2015-2018), where he served as coordinator of the 2017-2022 Strategic Plan for Tourism. He has been Director of ‘Toscana Promozione Turistica’ (2019-2021), Director of the ‘Valorizzazione del Patrimonio culturale e gestione risorse’ at the Sovrintendenza Capitolina (2015), and Director of the 'Area Politiche per la Promozione del Territorio, dei Saperi e dei Talenti' at Regione Puglia (2008-2015).

He holds a PhD in Quantitative Analysis of Social Phenomena. He has taught at Sapienza University of Rome (2004-2009) and is the author of numerous articles on planning and managing tourism policies, published in both Italian and international academic journals.
